Archival Collections on Parishes

The archives maintains the “Chancery Parish Files” which document the surface interactions between each parish and the archdiocese (bishop & chancellor), and usually contains correspondence, photographs, and parish histories. The bulk of the files begin in the 1940s. The archives takes in the records of closed parishes, which include correspondence, photographs, bulletins, school information, and other record types. The extent of materials varies greatly across parishes.
